About recruiter

I have been in job market for long. I have experience with IT recruiters of any kinds over 8 years. All in all, it has never been pleasant.

Those IT recruiters are IT salesman. They know a little bit technology terms. They collected resume online and talk to you about the opportunities they have. Then they ask you for reference. However, by the time you are exhausted to answer all the questions they asked for and bothered enough your reference; you haven’t seen the job yet. The truth is that they don’t have any jobs on their own. Their clients have. The decision will be made by their clients. Those recruiters just buzz around and they love to put their nose onto other people’s shoulder.

What recruiters love is money from their client after selling you to them. By the time of selling, their clients have never asked or even known any reference. I have worked with several recruiters. My experience is that as long as they can get money, they will be willing to work with you by all terms. Reference is the last as long as you didn’t break law. As for the technical part, the client has interviewed you. They know how much you have or can go with their requirement. It is hard to lie in your resume anyway. Plus, any job will require some probation period. During this period, the hiring company can fire you at any moment. They have nothing to loose.

Therefore, I have learnt lessons to deal with recruiters. I will see the job first before they can ask me for anything. I am not going to let them put nose over my shoulder and see what I did before. It works. It releases a lot of hassle from me.

But all in all, I am a strict technical person. I just hate those IT salesmen. What education do they have? However, I don’t have time to make a sell myself. Therefore, I may work with them once a while.
