I am a web developer over ten years. I have chased Craigslist’s computer gig section for about 2 years. That is really a cheap section. I concluded that I should never expect anything good from it.
That section is free. Therefore, people who posted there just cheap.
I was response to a web master / developer ads once. The person who posted ads called me and asked me if I would like to attend her site contest. It looks like this that she will assign her site to 5 different people and each of them will delivery a design to her and she will decide which one to use. No compensation has been discussed.
I was furious about how people are. They are not doing charity. How dare they want everything free from other people? Those people have no respect to other people’s profession. They just want something cheap.
I told her that I would like a contract and I sent an email to her that I also need half deposit for the work. I am not interested in her so-called contest. I do believe that no other person what’ so ever are interested in her contest. As I expected that she disappeared. After a day, I saw another similar ads show up in Craigslist again.
I hope that nobody will buy into it. One shall deal with a person who has respect to others. As a web developer / designer, I certainly will keep up my head high and do what I deserved.
